I am flying paperless with the IPad. The FAA has updated the Advisory Circular (AC) for Electronic Flight Bags (EFB) recently - there is a link below to important information and the AC. Using an IPad in the ****pit is not as simple as grab and go - there are certain requirements that must be met and they are detailed in the AC.
In my situation I have tested the IPad in each aircraft that I fly in VFR conditions making sure it does not interfere with the avionics in the aircraft or vice-versa. I created a document detailing this with space to list each aircraft along with the date test and signature. Also documented is that the IPad has been test and found as a suitable replacement for charts and plates for VFR & IFR flight when used with the charger and with an IPhone as a backup EFB. I also understand that the EFB must be secured and I am using the Go Flight Pro-C kneeboard which seems to work real well.
I am not sure if I have all my bases covered but I definately did make an honest attempt.
